The Buffs beat the Rams once again in the Rocky Mountain showdown. They have now beaten CSU 7 straight times but it wasn't pretty. The offense looked sluggish once again early in the game they were trailing 3-0 for most of the first half before the offense finally got going. Then the Boulder offense got clicking. Shedeur and Travis put on a show as Sanders threw for 310 yards on 36/49 passing for 4 TDs and 0 Ints. He looked calm in the pocket and some nice throws in between the numbers and made a sweet throw in the 4th quarter Travis down the right sideline. Travis continued to make his Heisman case as he racked up 100 yards on 13 catches for 2 touchdowns and got an interception of defense. After the close win in the first week, it was nice to see CU dominate their opponent.
I was pleased to see that the run game was very effective. The offense ran for 109 yards which isn't a lot, especially at the collegiate level but they averaged 5.7 per rush which is very impressive. The offensive line played an improved game and got a shout-out from Shedeur in his post-game press conference.
If I had to critique one thing after this game, it would be the back-to-back slow starts by CU. They went down 28-0 at half vs Nebraska and were down 3-0 for most of the first half vs CSU. Against teams like CSU, you can get away with slow starts but when you play stiffer competition such as Nebraska or teams that are better, that's when you find yourself down 28-0 at the half. If the solid run game is a sign of things to come, this team can stay competitive with a lot of the teams remaining in their schedule.
I wasn't able to catch the game live so it is tough to speak on exactly how the team played. I will get a better feel next week as I will be at the game. It is tough to say if the team improved some parts of their game from last week to this week or if the competition was not very good. We will get a better feel next week.
The next game is the homecoming game vs Baylor back at Folsom Field!
