The Buffs beat Texas Tech 41-27 yesterday, and with Kansas beating Iowa State yesterday, the Buffs are firmly in second place in the Big 12 rankings. If they win their remaining three games, they will finish second and face BYU for a chance to make the final four and compete for a National Championship.
Things looked a little bleak at the beginning when Texas Tech went up 13-0 very quickly. Early in the game, Shedeur and Travis were not on the same page and there were some early misfires by Sanders and Hunter was visibly frustrated. To me, it looked like a team that was a little in their head, and the weight of expectations and being ranked may have been too much for this team to handle. However, this team weathered the early storm and cut the deficit to 13-10 by halftime. Then came the second half and the team showcased its full-fire power and finished the game with 41 points, scoring 31 points in the second half(24 on offense and 7 on defense). Sanders finished the game with 291 yards 3 TDs and no interceptions on 30/43 passing. Travis finished with 9 catches for 99 yards and a TD but it was a full team effort from all the playmakers. LaJohntay Wester had 6 catches for 82 with a TD and Will Sheppard had 8 for 79 yards with a TD. The team was up 34-20 towards the game ending but Texas made it interesting and scored to cut it to 34-27. Texas stopped the Buffs offense with around 2 minutes left. The drama ended quickly when the Buffs' defense, who played a sensational game all day, strip-sacked the QB, and Shilo Sanders picked up the ball and ran it in the endzone making the game 41-27 and that was all she wrote.
It was very satisfying to see the classless Texas fans and their tortilla-throwing business has a look of shame and distraught as they saw their team get dominated from every facet of the game in the second half. So I beg to ask the question again. Is Deion Sanders doing all this just for clicks or is he a good coach that turned around a program that just won 1 game 2 years ago?
