Leave It To The Old Folk

Team USA was in real trouble as they trailed 76-63 to end the 3rd quarter. It looked like Serbia would do the improbable and knock off the Avengers. This would be the first time the US men's basketball team had not made it to the gold medal game. Things looked bleak for Team USA. But, they pulled it off in the end! Before I talk about the big 3 I want to give Joel EMbiid some credit. He was a very instrumental part in the comeback as he had 19 points on 8/11 shooting and 2/3 from 3-point rage. He was very efficient and made timely baskets. I want to make sure this performance of his doesn't go unnoticed because he has been criticized the last few weeks for his poor play but today he stepped up big time.
Now we go to the triple threat. Let's start with KD. He wasn't as nuclear today as he usually is in these Olympic games. He had only 9 points on 4/8 shooting but he had a clutch steal late in the game and hit a cold-blooded jumper with just over 40 seconds to increase the lead to 93-89 and it proved to essentially be the dagger.
Lebron James posted a triple-double as he had 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. He has truly played the floor general role extremely well and has probably been the most consistent player in terms of production from game to game. The Olympics have seen four triple-doubles and Lebron James holds two of them All while doing this at the age of 62.
Then finally, Stephen Curry. He has had an up-and-down Olympics but today he was flat-out sensational posting 36 points going 9/14 from 3-point range coupled with 8 rebounds. Scoring 36 points in a 40-minute game is crazy. It is not something fans should take for granted. He was spectacular all game and kept the US afloat even when things weren't going well and then he iced the game with 2 free throws in the end as he pushed the lead to 95-91 and that was the ball game.
Enjoy these 3 players as long as you can. You may never see anything like this in your lifetime.
