Another exciting round with many implications. You know the drill, lets recap it in 2 minutes or less...
We begin on Friday night where the Collywobbles struck again. Collingwood were up by as much as 27 points against the swans. But spurred by Chad Warner and Isaac Heeney they responded and ended up winning by 3 points, securing their finals and securing the fate of Collingwood who are now pretty much unable to make finals bar a miracle. The clash of the two most in form teams in the competition did not disappoint as the Giants, who mind you were trailing at 3 Quarter Time, came back to win by 18 points at the Gabba. The Tall-timber of Hogan and Cadman kicked 6 between them in a display which takes GWS to 3rd and Brisbane down to 5th. Who is the favourite to win the premiership now? et me know your opinion in the comments. Lets make it 3 games where the trailing teams at 3 quarter time have won as West Coast get over North. This has happened despite Norths dominance of the disposal count. There not much more to say about this game...except a possible mark of the year by one of the best young players in the league... https://www.afl.com.au/video/1191827/harleys-hanger-young-eagle-takes-mark-of-the-year-contender?videoId=1191827&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1723266030001. The Cats away from home manage to snag another win, against a fighting Freo Dockers, who were also up at 3 quarter time. The Cats move to 4th while the dockers slide to 6th which places them in a precarious position should they lose again this season. Up to the 2 Saturday night games (one of which I attended, and got photos with Oliver, Rivers, Mcvee, Hore, Tholstrup and Chandler) we see the Dees fall short against a resurgent Port Power in a low scoring, both scoreboard wise and crowd wise game, at the MCG. Kozzie Pickett and Horne Francis but on a show with multiple goals and high disposals. Dons Vs Suns, Suns 5 points down with seconds to go. Enter Mac Andrew. He slots the goal after the siren to secure the suns first away win this year and to basically end Essendon's season and continue their days without winning a final record. A nice quick recap of the Sunday games, in a game that was expected to be a tense and close affair, the Hawks blaze away from the Blues to gain a spot in the Top 8. Carlton gained 5 injuries from this game and now find themselves in 9th, after having top 4 hopes just a month ago. St Kilda roll over the Tigers at Marvel with at least Daniel Rioli showing something for the Tiges (or maybe the suns) with 36 disposals. And lastly the Crows get over an in form Bulldogs by 39 points at Adelaide oval with 5 goals for Darcy Fogarty. What a round...
That's it for the recap this week. Keep an eye out for 3 days or content in a row this coming week with the first 5 Hypothetical Trades dropping Tuesday, the Midweek News Wrap on Wednesday and Woz's Footy Preview on Thursday night. Thanks for reading through!
